How has technology affected the way that we receive news?

Technology has had a positive impact in our society.  Nowadays, we receive information faster than before and we can be informed about social, political, economic, cultural and other events at the same time as they happens which allows us to have a better perspective of how the things are developed.

As the technology arises and grows we can be informed of any event that takes place anywhere in the world as the event occurs and also, in some cases, if it is not possible to prevent tragedies (as natural disasters) react quickly in order to avoid catastrophic results as we receive many information in advance or on time.

Although, some media misuse technology recurring to sensationalism when transmitting information, which may cause a negative impact into the society, because some of them invest a lot of money to do that and people in general are victims of this game generating misinformation and sometimes panic between people when news and information are not handled correctly.

My classmate Asma agrees that technology has contributed to receive information faster than before.  However, she says that people make fake news recurring to sites as hotmail, yahoo, and others and publish wrong information that can affect people's opinion.

Prodigies.

There are some people who due to their extraordinary abilities in certain fields of knowledge are called prodigies.  We will discuss some famous and other less known person who have inherited or gotten some musical skills that in some cases have taken them to be very famous people around the world but also vicitms of fame.

Two famous musicians, one a pop star from the United States -Michael Jackson-, and the other one, a musician who played classical music born in Austria -Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart-  both dead.  The third one, a 5-year-old prodigy girl, who can play 6 instruments, speak 7 languages, and additionally to this, practice two types of dance and two sports, her name is Mabou Lisseau.  The girl is the lessest famous of the three.

With respect to the background, we can say that all of them were supported by their parents and helped by them to develop a successful career.   Mozart was the one who more rapidly initiated his musical career.  He started playing violin at the age of 3 and then composing when he was 5, making his first opera (Apollo) when he was 11.  Michael Jackson started his musical career later than Mozart, but at the same time as Mabou did it.   From the three, Jackson is the one who has had a more traumatic starting, as he was victim of domestic violence when he was a child; even though, Mozart lose his mom when he was 23.  On the contrary, Mabou's mom has been very supportive and warm with this prodigy girl.

Jackson and Mozart have the more prolific musical career and as a consequence, they are well known everywhere and their music is still played in the radio and specialized internet sites and additionally to this, they are still given some tributes in some cultural events that are scheduled from time to time around the world.

Finally, regarding their personal lives, Jackson has been the singer/dancer who has had a more stormy and crazy life.  He was a drugs consumer, maybe to escape from his hard reality and he was also frequently involved in some scandals such as, the adoption and abuse of some children.  Nevertheless, his astonished abilities as a singer, dancer, and choreographer made that all his personal problems did not make opaque his musical career, until his death due to an overdose, it seems to be.

To summarize, these privileged people involved in the musical career are very admired and well known yet if they are dead, however, in some cases, as in Michael Jackson's life some family problems and a fame handled incorrectly may result in a tragedy that ends with a brilliant career at a very early age.  So, for a prodigy person more important than having talent and fame is how to deal with them to be a successful person and at the same time, to be remembered as an example for the society.

The sale of organs should be allowed.

The sale of organs has became a controversial issue during the last decades.  The number of patients requiring an organ's transplant has increased and, as a consequence, the long waiting list for organs transplant is each time a big issue needing a prompt solution.

On the other hand, arguments in favor of financial incentives for organ donation have arose hoping that this system could increase the supply of organs, and at the same time, secure the ethical concern of saving lives.

Some points around this discussion topics can be considered such as: medical issues, religious issues and the patient's suffering.

Regarding medical issues, we can mention that the risk for the transplant procedure can be equal for the donor and the patient, nevertheless, for patients there is a big hope to improve their condition when they are operated no matter the risks.  As patients can improve, there's always the possibility that the donor's health may be affected especially with kidney transplants.

With respect to the religion, it can be said that the idea that human parts can be traded for monetary benefits sounds terrible.   As a matter of fact, people who have a strong believe would disagree with that idea, no matter the benefits for the patients.  However, some of them can be more flexible and open to accept the idea seeing that the most important thing is to save lives.

Another topic to consider is the patient's suffering, when they are in need of a n organ transplant, the wait is often long, painful and in some cases, fatal.   However, new medical advances have allowed doctors to use substitute organs for example, from animals.  Organ's transplants would be the only solution for a long-term, medical problem which means for the institutions in charge of undergo more intensive programs to, at least, try to make that this situation can alleviate patient's suffering.

To summarize, in light of some ethic considerations that emerge from this debatable issue and facing them to the medical ones, yet pragmatic solutions as financial incentives for donors and awareness programs, would have to be considered as the only ways in which it will be possible for patients to receive a necessary organ from a donor.

Customer Service provided at Restaurants

As customers, we all look for service that satisfy our primary needs when requiring goods or services in any field or area.   Food service is commonly one of the most frequently used by customers everywhere.   No matter if you visit simple or elegant restaurants, small or large, local or international, you will always be requesting services, choosing the best options and discarding bad ones.  When people plan to eat out, some of the main aspects to consider in choosing a good restaurant are prices, atmosphere, and service.  Even though, some restaurants offer good quality food at reasonable prices, customer service is not always good, but it is of capital importance when selecting a restaurant, be it for leisure of business reasons.

Eventhough, some restaurants offer good quality food and prices, people could be dissapointed with the customer service provided by their staff, due to it is not speedy and the attitude of waitress could not be the right one.  Things like these sometimes occur in some restaurants, not all, in my country.  In fact, this issue determines good or bad comments, and as a consequence, rates and recommendations that can be given to other potential customers:  colleagues, friends, or family.  People in general, for business or pleasure, usually hope to receive quality and timely service especially if they are in a hurry, as it happens with working people during lunch time on weekdays.

As an example, I went to a sea food restaurant some months ago, and we had to wait for service with my collegues approximately 40 minutes, which is too much time, especially, when you don't have enough availability to wait for more than an hour and a half or so during your lunch time schedule at work.

In summary, customer service most of the time is linked to the quality of restaurnants.  This aspect is really important for people who try to make the right decision when picking a good option for lunch or dinner, leisure or work.   Service received, in fact, is what determines people's decision to come back give a good rate to the place and also recommend it to friends or colleagues.

6. DO YOU LIKE FAST FOOD? WHY NOT?  HOW OFTEN DO YOU EAT IT? WHY IS IT SO POPULAR?

I DON'T LIKE TO EAT FAST FOOD, I PREFER VEGETABLES, FRUIT, FISH, MEAT AND IN GENERAL SANE FOOD.  I THINK FAST FOOD IS NOT TOO GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH SO, I TRY NOT TO EAT IT VERY FREQUENTLY.   I DID IT ESPECIALLY AT JOB WHEN I'M IN A HURRY OR HAVE MANY THINGS TO DO AND LITTLE TIME FOR THEM.

SANE FOOD

I TRY TO AVOID THIS TYPE OF FOOD AND ONLY EAT IT ONCE IN A WHILE.   USUALLY, WHEN I'M AT THE OFFICE I TRY TO GO TO THE RESTAURANT AND ORDER SALADS AND MEAT.  I ADMIT THAT SOMETIMES  WHEN THERE IS A LOT OF WORK I LOOK FOR SNACKS AND OTHER PRODUCTS BUT I TRY NOT TO DO IT REGULARLY.

FOOD NOT TOO GOOD FOR HEALTH
